Diagnosis Test lenticular, large, up to 11 mm in diameter, similar to Orbitolites in structure, cyclic chambers subdivided both vertically and horizontally into numerous small chamberlets, thick closely appressed laminae completely cover the umbilical region and may produce a compact umbonal thickening, lateral canals may occupy the planes between laminae in some species; wall calcareous, imperforate, porcelaneous. U. Paleocene (Ilerdian) to L. Eocene; Baluchistan; France; Spain; Italy. (Loeblich & Tappan, 1987, Foraminiferal Genera and Their Classification) [details]
