[None. Introduction starts as:]
[After the publication of my New Zealand Annelids, I received from Mr. W.B. Benham in Dunedin N.Z. a collection of local marine polychaetes brought together by him with a request to edit them. The collection was accompanied by a number of observations on the naming and synonymy of the animals and their location, as well as the coloring and drawing and behavior of the living worms.]
