Status Discorbis confusa is a new name for D. patellinaformis Bellen, 1946 proposed to avoid the confusion (not the homonymy) with D. patelliformis Brady, 1884.
D. patellinaformis was already a new name for Patellina nitida Terquem, 1882 thought by Cushman (1930) and Bellen (1946) to be a Discorbis and then to avoid the homonymy with D. (Rotalina) nitida (Williamson, 1858). However Le Calvez (1949) confirmed the genus Patellina for P. nitida Terquem, 1882 after studying the only specimen from terquem's collection (see P. nitida Terquem, 1882 emend. Le Calvez, 1949).
