Editor's comment It is now impossible to decide what Philippi's species was, as the original name Eupomatus uncinatus (later Hydroides uncinata) has since been used for at least 10 different taxa [details]
Taxonomy Zibrowius (1968:109) treated H. uncinata as valid when he described his new taxon H. pseudouncinata, but later decided it was indeterminable. Day (1973:132) was aware of the later comments of Zibrowius but nevertheless recorded H. uncinata from North Carolina. [details]
