Identification Pseudo-nitzschia abrensis is part of the pseudodelicatissima complex with species having a central nodule, 1 row of poroids and with a relatively narrow valve width. P. abrensis has a valve width of 1.7-2.5µm, a relatively high poroid density of 4-6 and only 1-4 sectors in each poroid, all characters differentiating it from the most similar P. caciantha and P. circumpora.
