From editor or global species database
Synonymy Though assumed by Sladen (1889) followed by Döderlein (1917) to be sonspecific with Asterias [=Chaetaster] longipes Retzius, 1805, several factors indicate that it was almost certainly a distinct new species of Gray, probably conspecific with Archaster lorioli Sukarno & Jangoux, 1977. Since ,i>Astropus longipes antedates both A. lorioli and A. mauritianus von Martens, 1866, formal suppression of the name Astropus longipes by the ICZN is desirable. [details]Unreviewed
