Type designation Barnard & Barnard (1983) designated Gammarus glaber as the type species of the subgenus Micruropus (Microgammarus) Sowinsky, 1915. However Takhteev (2000) notes that, first, G. glaber was not originally included in the genus Microgammarus Sowinsky, 1915 and thus cannot be a type, and second, Dybowsky (1924) already had designated M. minutus as the type.
