From editor or global species database
Editor's comment The notion of Gammarus fixsenii as the type species creates contradiction with the current classification, as Kamaltynov (2009) placed this species in the new genus Quasimicruropus Kamaltynov, 2010 and family Crypturopodidae Kamaltynov, 2002. [details]
Etymology "The generic name refers to the smallness of the third uropods." [details]
Type designation Bazikalova (1945) designated Gammarus wahlii Dybowsky, 1874, as the type species, not noting that Dybowsky (1924) already had fixed Gammarus fixsenii Dybowsky, 1874. The latter was only noted by Takhteev et al. (2015).
