Remark J.L. Barnard (1972) synonymised P. setiger from the Seychelles and P. suensis from Torres Strait. J.L. Barnard (1974) re-established both as distinct species. The material he studied in the 1972 paper came from Torres Strait and the Philippine Islands. His illustrations of the palm of male gnathopod 2 from both localities indicate he was studying the same species. The palms are transverse and look more like P. setiger than P. suensis (illustrations of lectotype by Berents, 1983). But Barnard (1972) pointed out a number of differences between his material and P. setiger. [details]
