Checked: verified by a taxonomic editorTaxonomy De Laubenfels (1936) assigned Carter's Hymeraphia unispiculum described from the Gulf of Manaar to Aaptos, and this was followed up by De Laubenfels (1954: Marshall Islands) and Desqueyroux (1972: Juan Fernandez Islands). It is unlikely that Carter's species is an Aaptos and that its distribution covers the wider Pacific Ocean [details]
