Description Colonies are caespitose, bowl-shaped, or are thick tables, with branches 6-12 mm thick. Axial corallites are often devoid of radial corallites on their upper surface. Radial corallites are all of the one type, and change shape and size along the branch. Colour: usually dark brown or greenish-brown, sometimes with light-brown or blue branch tips or dark blue with whitish tips. Abundance: abundant on upper reef slopes, also commonly found in lagoons and on fringing reefs. May be a dominant species (Veron, 1986). [details]
