Introduced species remark In Aegean Sea (IHO Sea Area) : B. ovata is a predator of Mnemiopsis leidyi another marine invader which predates fish eggs, zooplankton & larvae. M. leidyi displayed enormous blooms in the Black Sea because of lack of predators but popns declined once B. ovata became established. B. ovata distribution in Aegean Sea likely to reflect that of M. leidyi (Shiganova et al. 2007) [details]
