Underlain conformably by the Penchi Formation and overlain by the Shansi Formation, the Taiyuan Formation in the Huaibei Coalfield, about 143 m thick, is mainly composed of mudstones, sandstones and marine limestones. The fusulinids described and illustrated in this paper were mainly collected from the 9 layers of limestones (L2, L4, L6, L7, L8, L9, L10, L11, L13) in this formation, which comprise 29 species in 18 genera, including 2 new species (see Table 1), and may be divided into the following three assemblages in descending order, all belonging to the Sphaeroschwagerina Zone:3. Boultonia quasiwillsi-Pseudofusulina japonica Assemblage,2. Schwagerina subnathorsti-Schwagerina postnathorsti Assemblage, and1. Rugosofusulina valida-Pseudofusulina vulgaris Assemblage.
