Status Knight-Jones & Giangrande (2003) suggest Sabella ceratodaula is probably the same as Sabella grandis but lacks a type by which to verify this, and they indicate the synonymy is speculative with a question mark. It is uncertain how they decided this as there is no detail. Presumably, although they made a recombination in Pseudobranchiomma for it, they were electing to treat S. ceratodaula as a nomen dubium, as it is the senior name. They may not have been aware Ehlers examined Schmarda's specimen and placed it in Laonome. [details]
