Taxonomy According to Barnich et al (2012:406) "Hartman (1938) had already suspected the synonymy with Halosydnella australis. Rioja (1946) followed Hartman and considered H. grisea a junior synonym of H. australis, and finally Pettibone (personal communication to J.M. Orensanz in 1967), having checked the respective types, confirmed this synonymy." [details]
