Etymology The specific epithet diplodonta is composed by the Greek prefix diplo-, meaning 'double', and the Greek word donta, meaning 'tooth', and refers to the described presence of a pair of bidentate jaws in the anterior region of the pharynx. [details]
Habitat Under rocks, in the tidal limits. [details]
Status Hartman (1959: 225) considered that the species belonged to the genus Syllis, being however indeterminable to species. Licher (1999) also considered the species as being a nomen dubium. [details]
Type locality Atlantic Ocean: "Atlantisches Meer, unter Steinen an der Grenze der Ebbe (Schmarda, 1861: 69). A more detailed location was not provided. [details]
