Description Thick shell, up to 4 cm, with tall spire and large body whorl, upper whorls separated by deep sutures, and the entire surface sculptured by numerous transverse grooves and spiral ridges. Columella narrow and outer lip crenulate. Colour variable, often brown with a faint band on body whorl, or entirely yellow or orange. Aperture white. Habitat: under boulders in lower eulittoral.
