Checked: verified by a taxonomic editorAuthority There is no taxon 'Nereis pulsatoria Audouin and Milne Edwards, 1834' as recorded in the Hartman Catalogue (p269) and the reference in Sherborn as authored by Audouin & Edwards 1829: 201 is to the wrong article by those authors. Audouin & Edwards (1834) were using an existing name which they attributed as "Nereis pulsatoria, Montagu - Lycoris pulsatoria, Sav.". Clearly it was not their original name. [details]

Checked: verified by a taxonomic editorSynonymy Hartman Catalogue (p269) referred Nereis pulsatoria [as used in Audouin & Edwards, 1834] to Nereis zonata Malmgren, 1867, most likely repeating the placement in Fauvel (1923: 338). As N. zonata is a much junior name this is not possible. She placed the original name Lycoris pulsatoria Savigny as "in Audouin and Milne Edwards" as indeterminable, locality unknown. This is a conflicting treatment of the same name in the Catalogue. [details]
