Monterosato, T. A. di
1884
Nomenclatura generica e specifica di alcune conchiglie mediterranee. Virzi, printed for the author, Palermo, 152 pp.
Publication
Exact printing date unknown. Volume dated on the frontispiece: “1884”. A handwritten note on the copy of the Smithsonian Libraries specifies: “After August” (see also Tomlin, 1931). With no other indications, it is to be dated: December 31st, 1884]. Monterosato (1884) seems to have used indifferently "genere" and "sezione" for all his new genus-group taxa. Whereas some of the names marked as "nov. sect." can be related to (and could be treated as subgenus of) a genus name preceding in the text, others (e.g. Pyrgisculus, p. 88, Doliella p. 98) cannot. For this reason, and also because all species are consistently treated in this paper as forming a binomen with the new "sections", these names are treated in WoRMS as introduced with the rank of genus
