Comparison Similar to Asterosmilia but budding daughter corallites from edge zone. [details]

Diagnosis Corallum colonial and recumbent, new corallites budding extracalicularly from edge zone and quickly becoming detached from parent corallum resulting in corallites with an open or broken base; endothecal dissepiments widely spaced; paliform lobes present on higher cycle septa; columella trabecular. [details]

Remark See Cairns and Wells (1987) and Cairns (2000) and Dawson (2004) for latest taxonomic treatment of this genus. Three fossil species and 5 Recent. [details]
