Description Colonies consist of upright irregular, usually contorted, anastomosing bifacial plates. Columellae are wall-like lobes. Colour: deep bluish-grey or brown. Abundance: common, may develop into mound-shaped colonies over 8 m in diameter in shallow turbid water, but smaller colonies occur in a wide range of habitats. (Veron, 1986 <57>) [details]
