Etymology Not stated in the original descripton. The species is named after René Herpin, Bachelor of Science, who published on polychaetes between 1914 and 1935, mainly on Nereididae and Syllidae, acknowledging Pierre Fauvel in some of his papers, and who also wrote a necrological note on Pierre Fauvel in 1958.
