Etymology "The name refers to the branchial wings" (Elías et al., 2003: 83). The specific epithet alata is a Latin adjective meaning 'having wings' or 'winged', and refers to the vascularised wing present on the anterior region of the branchiae, extending from the base to half its length. [details]
Habitat In continental shelf depths (21-49 m), in grounds of fine sand and sand mixed with shells. [details]
