From editor or global species database
Etymology Not stated. Grube describes his specimen as rothbraungelb (= red brown yellow) thus it is likely 'russa' meaning red is a reference to the colour of the worm [details]
Identification Böggemann (2002) includes one of McIntosh's (1885) original New Zealand types of Glycera lamelliformis re-identified as a Glycera russa, as well as including in G. russa Knox's (1960) large specimen which Knox had placed as a G. lamelliformis, as well as including Knox's Chatham Island G. lamelliformis records. Most of Böggemann's material-examined list were G. russa specimens from New Zealand (held at NIWA, Wellington). Only the holotype is known for Fiji. [details]
Type locality Grube simply names Ovalau in his text but does not further specify the location. Ovalau Island is off Fiji, at approx -17.7352, 178.7652. There is another Ovalau Island in Tongan islands, but it is lesser known and so unlikely to be the collection place. The Hartman catalogue had recorded the location only as "South Pacific Island" [details]
