Etymology The specific epithet sexoculata derives from the combination of the Latin root sex, meaning 'six', and the Latin word oculatus, meaning 'having eyes', and refers to the presence of 3 pairs of eyes on each side of the prostomium, 2 pairs of very big eyes in in the posterior region of the prostomium, and a third pair of smaller eyes in the anterior region.
