Comparison From other cerioid corals differs in septal microstructure and micromorphology, in large, tabuloid dissepiments and in multiple intracalicular mode of budding. [details]
Description Described and illustrated in Morycowa 1988:114, text-fig.11; pl.10,fig.1,2. Additional analysis of morphology in Morycowa and Szulc 2006: fig.2A-E; fig.3A-D; fig.4A-F; fig.5A-C, and Morycowa et al. 2006: fig. 2A-B; fig.3A-G; fig.4A-H; fig.5A-D. [details]
Diagnosis Cerioid. Calices prismatic, deep, Isastrea-like or convex. Wall septothecal, straight or zigzag. Radial elements compact, subequal in thinckess. Distal border with fine denticles and rare, thick spine-like structures. Internal border wedge-like or thickened, or dissociated into lobes. Lateral faces with fine granules, in places joined to form flanges. Apophysal septa occur. Synapticulae rare. Endotheca made of sub-tabuloid dissepiments raising in the corallite periphery. Budding intracalicular, marginal, without connections between centers, frequently multiple. Traces of septal microstructure show thin centers in monolinear arrangement. [details]
Remark One species. [details]
Status Included to a new family Eckastraeidae Morycowa, 2006:727. [details]
