Comparison Thick-trabecular septa with granulation and papillar columella differentiate the genus from other Triassic thamnasterioid genera. [details]
Description The type species was described by Melnikova 1971:34 based on specimens from the Pamirs corresponding in their features with those illustrated by Reuss 1854 and Frech 1890. Recent descriptions and illustations of the Pamirian material have been published in Melnikova 2001:74,pl.19,fig.2-4,pl.24,fig.4. [details]
Diagnosis After Melnikova 1971, re-edited: Thamnasterioid-meandroid. Radial elements compact, confluent, geniculate, costoseptal in type. Distal edge with pearl-like denticulation, septal faces with slightly flattened granules. Columella made of trabecular projections of internal septal borders. Dissepiments vesicular, abundant. Synapticulae rare. [details]

Status The species of this genus were described among species of the following genera: Thamnastraea recte Thamnasteria Lesauvage, 1826; Pterastrea Duncan, 1880; Fungiastraea Alloiteau, 1952. Genus Lupitschia Cuif, 1976 is its junior subjective synonyme. [details]
