Comparison From Coccophyllum it differs in having septal spines arranged in a half-fan and dissepimental endotheca, while in Coccophyllum the spines are subhorizontal and endotheca is tabular. [details]
Description Frech 1890: 89 well described morphology of the type species. First description and illustrations of microstructural features was given by Cuif, 1973: 280,fig.32. The type species was redescribed, and its status redefined by Roniewicz 1989:133, pl.41,fig.5-7. [details]
Diagnosis Cerioid; wall septothecal; septa nonconfluent or subconfluent, made of thin septal spines arranged into a half-fan: peripheral spines vertical and remaining inclined axialwards; septal sides smooth; distal septal granulation and denticulation of the internal septal border are regular; dissepiments large, convex or subhorizontal; budding intercalicular. Microstructure: skeletal fibres organized into separate fascicles each forming individual septal spine. [details]
Remark Only the type species is well documented; determination of corals from America attributed to the species needs comparison with type material. [details]
Status Synonymy: Coccophyllum Reuss, 1865. [details]
