Comparison The genus was characterized by Cuif 1975 and 1976 and compared with Guembelastraea Cuif, 1976:107, and Andrazella Cuif, 1976:108. The type species is distinguishable for its meandroid series of calices and meniane-bearing septa. [details]
Description Morphological and microstructural descriptions and illustrations are given by Cuif 1975:106, pl.15,fig.1-7;text-fig.16; and Cuif 1976:103 and 108,pl.7,fig.1-9. [details]
Diagnosis Meandroid. In the series, calices well marked by convergence of septa. Centers free. Septa built of monolinear series of trabeculae inclined axialward. Menianes with thin borders directed upward. Wall septothecal with addition of stereome. [details]
Remark Three species are known, from which two from the Mediterranean region are well documented. [details]
Status The type of this genus was described so far under the generic names of Meandrina Lamarck, 1801; Latomeandra Isastrea Milne Edwards et Haime, 1851; Isastrea Milne Edwards et Haime, 1851. [details]
