Description Massive meandroid corallum with short valleys corallites No epitheca or just some poorly developed rings. Costae subequal and dentate with typical montlivaltid rhomboidal teeth. Valleys correspond to wide lobes often still in connection with a lamellar linkage with the center of the corallum. Radial elements are compact free biseptal sheets and costosepta, bicuneiform straight to curved. Distal edge with rhomboidal equal regular teeth, inner edge dentate, occasionnally major septa may anastomose. Lateral faces show distinct typical montlivaltid carinae corresponding to a fan system of trabecules. No palis. Microstructure not observed. Hexameral symmetry not deciphered, bilateral symmetry marked by the curvature of septa, length of biseptal sheets in the valleys and by the elongation of the fossa. Endotheca made of vesicular dissepiments. Axial zone without columella but an elongated fossa. Synapticulae absent. Wall absent between corallites but a paratheca present at near the periphery of the corallum. [details]

Status Commonly accepted as a junior synonym of Latiphyllia.
