Description It is likely that Vosmaer & Pekelharing's (1898) extensive description of what they called Esperella aegagropila concerns the present species, as the locality and the habitat from which they describe their specimens conform to the type locality of Mycale micracanthoxea. They did not describe the micracanthoxeas, but these are often inconspicuous. If not, then their description is likely M.(C.) macilenta which has been reported from the North Sea. [details]
