Homonymy This combination is a junior secondary homonym of Axinella hispida (Montagu, 1814, sensu Lendenfeld, 1888). However, since Montagu/Lendenfeld's combination is not the original combination of Montagu (i.e. Spongia hispida) and since the accepted name of Montagu's species is Raspailia (R.) hispida, the homonymy is moot en Koltun's combination remains accepted and valid.
