Remark Van Soest & Stentoft (1988) assigned this species to D. polydiscus, but Pisera & Lévi (2002) expressed doubts. In 2007, Andrzej Pisera reexamined the slides made by Topsent from the Schmidt material in the Strassbourg Museum. These slides leave no doubt because of characteristically incised
phyllotriaenes, monaxial desmas and characteristic smooth microxeas, that
it is in fact Macandrewia (not Corallistes or Discodermia) clavatella.
The East African record is doubtful as Corallistes clavatella Schmidt, 1870 is originally described from Florida. [details]
