Validity Hyatt’s name is not an available name (as it has a fourth name, ICZN art. 45.5). Hence, Van Soest et al.'s (2020: 54) nomen novum Spongia solidahyatti Van Soest & Hooper, 2020 erroneously proposed to replace an alleged junior homonym of Spongia solida Esper, 1794, is unavailable because unavailable names cannot enter into homonymy (ICZN art. 54.1). Van Soest (2024: 29) proposed to assign this material from the Caribbean region to Spongia (Spongia) tubulifera Lamarck, 1814, in accordance with Wiedenmayer (1977: 55) and Van Soest (1978: 11).
