From editor or global species database
Nomenclature Lerner et al. (1998) misspelled the species name Cryptotethya crypta De Laubenfels, 1949 as Cryptotheca crypta. This is an incorrect subsequent spelling in the sense of ICZN art. 33.3 of the genus name Cryptotethya. The name is thus unavailable for the sponge. However, Cryptotheca was subsequently used by Duellman (2005) as a subgenus name for a fossil frog. This latter name is now the valid name for that frog fossil. [details] [edit] [delete] [details]
