Etymology Author: "Le préfixe Mel, commun aux genres Melinnampharete Annenkova, 1937 et Melinnala Hartman,
1965, rappelle la transformation dorsale d'un segment thoracique antérieur, caractère proche de la crête
dorsale des Melinninae." [refers to the dorsal transformation of an anterior thoracic segment, a feature similar to the dorsal crest of Melinninae] [details]
Type locality Bassin du Spitzberg ; 76°54'1N et 01°49'8E ; profondeur : 3,193 m. [details]
Type material Paratypes in the original description were evidently never sent to the U.S. museums mentioned and are presumed lost (fide Chávez-López et al 2025). Holotype at MNHN Type-823 has been redescribed by Chávez-López et al (2025) [details]
