Etymology Not stated. The specific epithet lamellata is the feminine of the Latin adjective lamellatus, meaning 'lamellate' or 'having flattened plates or scales', and presumably refers to the foliaceous notopodial postchaetal lamellae of chaetigers I-IV, described as ''standing erect, foliaceous [on chaetiger I] [...], foliaceous, over half length of gills, fused to gills over most of their length [on chaetigers II-IV] (Rainer, 1973: 553). Habitat In mud deposited in empty Ostrea lutaria Hutton, 1873 shells and Galeolaria hystrix Mörch, 1863 tubes, collected between low tide to about 10 m depth depth. [details]
Type locality South Pacific Ocean, New Zealand, South Island, Otago Harbour, tidal channel to north of Quarantine Island (geocoordinates not provided, estimated with gazetteer to be approximately lat. -45.826º, long. 170.634º), between 4-10 m, in mud deposited in empty Ostrea lutaria Hutton, 1873 shells and Galeolaria hystrix Mörch, 1863 tubes.
