Setiger V enlarged, provided with modified setae of one or two kinds, usually accompanied by dorsal and ventral capillaries. Posterior notopodia may have modified dorsal setae. Etymology Not stated. Paraboccardia is composed by the name of the genus Boccardia Carazzi, 1893, preceded by the prefix of Greek origin para- and meaning 'beside', 'next to', or 'near', referring to the similarity between the two genera, which were stated to differ in having neuropodial hooded hooks commencing on chaetiger VII (Boccardia) against chaetiger VIII (Paraboccardia).
