Description Tests planispiral, involute, lenticular or spherical, very rarely subfusiform, small to medium-sized. The septa remain plane during all the history of the group (in contrast to the other order, Fusulinida). Chomata are often present but poorly developed. Some structures confused with parachomata are occasionally described. Wall calcareous secreted, initially aragonitic (probably fibrous and finely perforated?), then neomicrosparitized from aragonite. Aperture always simple, terminal and basal.
Bashkirian (Early Pennsylvanian) to Changhsingian (latest Permian with cosmopolitan or endemic genera (see Rozovskaya, 1975; Rauzer-Chernousova et al., 1996; Leven & Gorgij, 2011).‌
(Vachard (2024) pers. comm.). [details]

Diagnosis Test small, subspherical to discoidal, septa closely spaced, simple, and not fluted, tunnel single, chomata distinct, asymmetrical; wall of tectum and diaphanotheca and may have tectoria, secondary deposits common, wall tends to be secondarily silicified and structure difficult to recognize. L. Carboniferous (Visean) to U. Permian (Djulfian). (Loeblich & Tappan, 1987, Foraminiferal Genera and Their Classification) [details]
