Publication date Publication date stated as 1870 by Beu (2010) and many others, based either on the date printed on the title page of "Conchigliologia vivente marina della Sicilia", which was actually printed 1872-1876, or on the mention "Letta nella tornata ordinaria del 23 Aprile 1870" [presented at the regular assembly of April 23, 1870] in the original description. However the front page date 1871 of "Atti" vol. 5 must be accepted in the absence of evidence to the contrary. [details]
