Etymology There is nothing on the etymology in the article. Victor and Victoria are male and female personal names respectively, and Victor E. Zaika collected the material. As Kiseleva used the feminine-ended diminutive suffix -ella, the genus is feminine. The type species name is Victoriella zaika, an unmodified family name, thus a noun in apposition. Zoological Record [Zoological Record Volume 129] has the name spelled as 'zaika', not 'zaikai' as was later used by Kiseleva and others. [details]

Spelling Zoological Record [Zoological Record Volume 129] has the name spelled as 'zaika', not 'zaikai'. It seems likely that Kiseleva (1996) later changed the spelling to 'zaikai', but this is not permitted and (if correct and clearly apparent that this alteration was done) the valid species-group name remains 'zaika'. However, modern authors use 'zaikai'. [details]
