new genera and four species of ostracodes of the Upper Amazon Basin are described: Nealecythere posterocompressus gen. et sp. nov., Sohnicythere tuberculata gen. et sp. nov., S. inversa sp. nov., Cyprideis retrobispinosa sp. nov. Ecological aspects related to the fauna of Brasil as well as that of the Peru and Colombia region are discussed.
