Description Small and fragile brittlestars. Jaws always with a pair of apical papillae at the tip, and one or more papillae on each side. Amphiurids are notoriously difficult to find because of their habit of burrowing into the substrate. They are equally difficult to identify without the aid of a microscope and taxonomic keys.
