Editor's comment The status of Paucibranchia Molina-Acevedo, 2018 in relation to the poorly known genus Lysibranchia Cantone, 1983 is slightly uncertain as it is possible the type species of the monotypic genus Lysibranchia, which was based on a juvenile eunicid, is in fact a misidentification of Eunice bellii, (placed as the type species of Paucibranchia). The species synonymy was first suggested by Çinar 2005, and if confirmed, the name Paucibranchia would be junior to Lysibranchia. However, it is equally possible that Lysibranchia paucibranchiata Cantone, 1983, is indeterminable and should be disregarded for nomenclature. The identity of the holotype of L. paucibranchiata should be re-examined further in a publication. See also note under Lysibranchia. The genus Paucibranchia is retained as valid here [G. Read].
