Taxonomy Dall (1889:232) and Bayer (1937:29-30) use the combination Dolium (Eudolium) crosseanum Monterosato, 1869 for both species currently referred to as Eudolium crosseanum (Monterosato, 1869) and Eudolium bairdii (Verrill & Smith in Verrill, 1881). Furthermore, he uses the combination Dolium (Eudolium) pyriforma G. B. Sowerby III, 1914 for the species currently referred to as Eudolium crosseanum (Monterosato, 1869).
Dall (1889:232) used the combination Dolium (Eudolium) crosseanum Monterosato, 1869 sensu the species currently referred to as Eudolium bairdii (Verrill & Smith in Verrill, 1881), yet also adds Dolium crosseanum Monterosato, 1869 as a synonym for Dolium (Eudolium) crosseanum Monterosato, 1869 [details]
