Taxonomy Asteroschematidae was split into Asteroschematinae and Astrocharinae by Okanishi & Fujita (2011). Both were raised to family rank by Okanishi & Fujita (2013), which was not supported by O'Hara et al. (2017, 2018), who found them to be younger than other families and thus supported perhaps on subfamily level. In light of this instability, we refrain from using these ranks to avoid confusion, awaiting clarification. [details]
