Etymology Latin for ‘unusual, uncommon, strange’, insolita refers to the many characters of this species that are uncommon in other Laonice species. [details]
Taxonomy Very similar to Aonidella dayi López-Jamar, 1989 according to Meißner et al (2014:216) who state: "there are not many differences between A. insolita comb. nov. and A. dayi. The most obvious difference is certainly the presence of interparapodial lateral pouches in A. insolita comb. nov. from chaetiger 6, this character is missing in its congener [details]
