Etymology Not stated, uncertain. The specific epithet obscura is a Latin adjective meaning 'dark', 'dusky', 'indistinct', 'complicated, 'unknown', 'reserved' or 'secret'. With base only on the original description it is not possible to be certain to which aspect of the species the name refers to. However, it coud refer to the eyes: "The eyes are small and in the preserved material are colored brown" (Treadwell, 1928: 472). [details]
