Taxonomy Wilson & Glasby (1993: 276) state that ''Perinereis nuntia bombayensis Bhatt & Bal, 1966 (described from India) according to the original description, has only conical paragnaths in an arc on Area VI and therefore must be placed in the genus Neanthes Kinberg, 1866.'' [details]
Type locality Bombay (= Mumbai), Maharashtra, Western India, Arabian Sea (gazetteer estimate 19.06º, 72.82º). [details]
Validity Name unavailable according to Art. 45.6.3 of the ICZN (4th Ed.), as it was first published after 1960 and the authors expressly used the term "variety", an infrasubspecific rank. [details]
