Etymology "The specific name [dicha] is a Greek word for "two" referring to the bidentate hooded hooks present in this species" (Hutchings et al., 1998: 806). [details]
Habitat In the basaltic beach of La Fayette (Tahiti), fully exposed to oceanic waters and not protected by an offshore barrier reef, and appearing to be absent from other basaltic beaches found on both the east and west coasts of the island. The species lives in non-permanent mucous tubes and occurs in densities of 700-1000 m2, in the upper intertidal region of the beach just below a line of rocks, in fine sandy sediments; the tidal range is 50 cm.
